EcoTyre Technologies is an emerging NASDAQ company and is the only manufacturer of "re-molded" tires in the U.S. Re-molds are much different than re-treads in that a whole new tire is created from a used tire casing in a steam-heated vulcanizing process resulting in an end product that's indistinguishable from a new tire.
Re-molding tires has been practiced in Europe for decades to conserve landfill space. They also cost less than new tires, but are of comparable quality. EcoTyre even offers a 50,000 mile limited warranty on its passenger tires.
Following a December 1995 IPO, the company began initial, limited production at is 65,000 square foot plant and is already working on expanding its capacity to provide a wider line of sizes and styles in the face of strong demand.
