"TransAmerican Waste Industries, Inc. Signs Agreement to Acquire Certain Assets o"
  HOUSTON, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- TransAmerican Waste Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: WSTE) announced today that it signed a definitive agreement to acquire certain Houston area assets of Sanifill, Inc. (NYSE: FIL) which the Justice Department required USA Waste Services, Inc. to divest of as part of its merger with Sanifill.
  The assets to be acquired consist of 58 commercial and residential routes servicing over 100,000 residences and 4,000 businesses, 63 collection vehicles, approximately 4,000 containers, two office and maintenance facilities and a Type IV construction and demolition landfill.  In addition, TransAmerican will receive a preferred disposal rate on a total of 2,000,000 tons at two USA Waste landfills located in Houston.
  Total consideration is $13,600,000 of cash, $1,000,000 which was paid upon the signing of the definitive agreement.  The transaction is scheduled to close Dec. 31, 1996.  Revenue generated from the acquired assets will be approximately $14,500,000 for the year ended Dec. 31, 1996.
  TransAmerican Waste Industries, Inc. is an emerging solid waste management company engaged in the processing and disposal of non-hazardous industrial and municipal solid waste.  Currently, the company owns or operates ten processing and disposal facilities.  The company is aggressively pursuing the privatization of municipal landfills as well as selected acquisition opportunities.
