Market Cap Update (4/30/98): $2.6 billion
Netscape is generally hailed as the greatest story emerging from the first phase of the Internet transition. Its stock has come a long way from its IPO, and at $57-$58 a share it is worth no less than $5 billion, or about 20 Cheesecake Factories.
Many see it has the one that will kill Microsoft, but others see it as next in a long line of flash in the pans. About the only things that both sides can agree on is that NSCP is currently trading at about 250 times earnings and a whopping 20 times sales. Those are high expectations.
Netscape is a good company and the stock has done very well SO FAR. But is it worth the current price?
Longs and shorts equally welcome on this thread.
Good Luck and Happy Investing!
