Has anyone heard about Kodak's new port?
What do you think? The idea of sharing pictures via computer sounds like fun. I realize some people now do this on their home page.
Will Kodak's product be an improvement?
Kodak Will Support USB Interface
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 7, 1996--Eastman Kodak Company today announced its support of the new Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface, and said that the company plans to introduce peripheral devices next year that use the new industry standard.
USB is a high-speed port developed by seven leaders in the personal computing and telecommunications industries--Compaq, DEC, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, NEC and Northern Telecom.
In addition to speed, USB will offer several benefits over current serial, parallel, keyboard, mouse and game ports. They include true "plug-and-play" installation of peripheral devices and the ability to connect multiple devices to a single connector without installing special adapter cards or reconfiguring the system.
Kodak officials said they will take advantage of the new USB standard as part of the COMPANY'S STRATEGY TO MAKE IT QUICK, CONVENIENT AND AFFORDABLE FOR PEOPLE TO USE AND SHARE PICTURES ON COMPUTERS. |
