There has been some interest shown in Thai equities through other forums on this board. Thought it might be suitable to open a separate subject.

The SET (Stock Exchange of Thailand) is now trading at historical lows. Are the recent difficulties in the Thai economy structural or cyclical in nature? There are arguments on both sides of this issue.

Any views and interests you may have are more than welcome.

DEPUTY Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Amnuay Viravan will
urge the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to adopt strong
measures against short selling of Thai stocks by offshore investors, a
well-informed source in the Government said.

The measures would be taken in order to counter the negative
impacts that short selling is believed to have on the economy in
general and the Stock Exchange of Thailand in particular.
