This new issue is a development stage company that will produce medical isotopes and related products in the U.S. Among other things, this company has acquired the linear accelerator that was built as part of the cancelled superconducting super collider project in Texas, and is converting it to produce medical isotopes.
The current market for medical isotopes is dominated by foreign players and is expected to expand significantly due to new drugs to diagnose and treat various diseases. INIS claims to have a novel technology for producing neutrons and directing them at several different targets at once. Compared to other accelerators, the linac that INIS has acquired has some distinct advantages (higher energy level and beam intensity). It also has advantages over reactors (less radwaste). INIS is also developing a gamma camera (for nuclear medicine scans) which they claim has much greater resolution than those currently on the market.
Seems pretty ambitious . . . . . and pretty interesting.
