A Dow Jones news article dated 2/15, announced that LSI was
selected by Interdigital Communications, located in King of Prussia,
to make CMDA Chips for use in wideband wireless applications.
Interdigital Communications and its partners Siemens AG and Samsung,
are working together to develop products for Broadband wireless services
This "True PCS" will provide "bandwidth on demand from ISDN to Multimedia,
including High Speed Data, toll quality speech and Video."
I find this news to be another positive indication of whats to come in the future for
LSI. A couple weeks ago I read a newsletter by a wireless analyst, that stated he believes
and I do to, that the "Gold Rush" in wireless will come with Broadband access to the internet that allows
two way interactive internet access from your home or whereever you go. The phone companies
are investing heavily in wireless and dropping some plans for Fiber.
An article dated 12/4/95 in the Wall Street Journal also
looks very positive:

The company hopes its new $50
chip will be used as the brains for the so-called "$500 Internet device"
that's recently been touted by Oracle and Sun Microsystems. "I think
companies will be rolling out boxes in the third quarter, and they will
be the Cabbage Patch Doll sensation of Christmas 1996," says LSI's executive
VPfor product strategy.

If anybody out there knows of any company, better positioned than LSI
to take advantage of this behemoth market looming on the horizon
please let me know. Their products provide the brains for inexpensive
access to, and utilization of, information by the masses. Both in a
passive, user friendly entertainment mode like TV/Satellite/Wireless download
and in a lets get serious competitive mode by companies deploying it on a mass
scale to improve productivity and raise profits. As the world gets wired
for wideband, the possibilities and neccessity for new products using an ACCESS CHIP are endless.
