Auto-trol Technology Unveils CENTRAWeb(TM), Product Structure Enhancements and Distributed Database Viewing with CENTRA 2000(TM) Release 4.1
With Nearly 90% of Revision 4.1's Enhancements from Customer Input, CENTRA 2000's Most Recent Release is clearly the "Customer's Release"
DENVER, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Working with CENTRA 2000's users to define this latest release, Auto-trol (OTC Bulletin Board: ATTC - news) has provided powerful web access, distributed database viewing, enhanced data viewing capabilities, and many other functions needed by its customers to meet their business objectives. CENTRA 2000, Auto-trol Technology's fully integrated EDM/PDM system, enables immediate access to current and legacy data, ensures the security of critical documents, and streamlines workflow.
As David S. VanNederynen, Senior System Analyst of DynMcDermott stated during a recent user conference in Houston, ''I've been involved with our implementation from the beginning. I've really been impressed with Auto-trol's interest in and incorporation of users' suggestions into the base software.''
''Auto-trol's strong commitment to increasing the value to our customer's total investment with us is an important aspect of our product line strategy'', said Pat Yurek, CENTRA 2000 Product Manager. ''Our product plans continually strive to balance new functionality and product enhancements that will provide our customers with a strong technological foundation, while providing for enterprise-wide expansions and integrations.'' Release 4.1's most significant enhancements include:
Enhanced product structure GUI Columnized attribute list Product structure superclass Distributed database viewing Inverted where-used tree Enhanced search performance Multi-language metadata with distributed database option Project archive/restore Enhanced workflow editing Enhanced ROM report Full text retrieval enhancements
PRODUCT STRUCTURES
Release 4.1 of CENTRA 2000 includes many new product structure capabilities, as well as enhancements to existing features.
Product Data Structure GUI
With our customers' comments in mind, CENTRA 2000 product structure browser has been enhanced for even more intuitive usability and navigation. By consolidating product structure creation, editing, querying, and management under a single browser, release 4.1 enables users to move between functions easily and naturally.
Product Structure Query
Speedy search and retrieval of product information is a high priority in a production environment. To that end, release 4.1 now includes powerful Boolean search capabilities, as well as two flexible search modes that enable users to seek information by individual components or entire assemblies.
Inverted Where-used Tree
Instead of requiring users to traverse an entire tree to locate all product structure links, release 4.1's where-used interface presents the selected component at the top of the tree and displays assemblies and product references below.
Product Structure Classes
With the addition of predefined classes consisting of attributes common to parts, assemblies, and their use in products, release 4.1 further enables the rapid implementation of CENTRA 2000.
COLUMNIZED ATTRIBUTE LIST
Using an MS Explorer-like approach, users can set their PC browser to list nearly any attribute in the item list screen. By clicking on a column heading, items can then be sorted by the selected attribute.
In addition, release 4.1's reorganized and enhanced PC browser user interface enables more intuitive navigation for the casual or new user, thereby speeding the learning process and improving functionality. Like other Windows(R) applications, multiple browsers can be tiled and cascaded.
CENTRAWeb
With CENTRAWeb, release 4.1 brings the power of the Internet to the desktop. Designed to allow rapid tailoring for individual users, CENTRAWeb features robust find, view, print, file check-in, file check-out and messaging capabilities. Consequently, it moves release 4.1 into the future -- where web access and PDM/EDM data and function join forces.
Auto-trol's unique ''concurrent sockets'' approach makes no distinction whether the customer uses their clients in networks, the Internet, intranets, or extranets. CENTRA 2000 lets customers access their data without requiring the purchase of a separate web client.
DISTRIBUTED DATABASE VIEWING
To further facilitate access to information, CENTRA 2000's PC browser enables users to view multiple databases within a distributed database system. New databases can be seen immediately in a new window within the browser screen.
The CENTRA 2000 suite of products and services provides: Internet, intranet, and extranet web access; application launching; an API with over 500 commands; customizable forms; workflow; process management; context-sensitive help facilities; product structures; data modeling, configuration management; change management; distributed file storage; distributed databases; training; installation; integration; and implementation.
