Alberta Star's emphasis is the exploration for large tonnage polymetallic deposits in the Great Bear magmatic zone ("GBmz") located in Canada's Northwest Territories. The GBmz is a tectonic zone more than 800km long and 100km wide which outcrops on parts of both Great Slave Lake and Great Bear Lake. The zone has been highly deformed and fractured and the metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks have been invaded by Plutonic and volcanic rocks. A variety of metallic mineral deposits occur in the GBmz, directly associated with both the intrusive and extrusibve rocks and from subsequent mineralizing events.
Alberta Star currently operates three preoperties in the area: the Mazenod/Squirrel Lakes property (near to Fortune Minerals' Sue-Dianne and NICO deposits), the Longtom property and the Glacier property, all located in the GBmz.
