Return to Y2k Denial on SI

This thread is a compendium of all people on SI currently stating that Y2k is a hype, it is overblown, it is a manipulation and so on (including their posts stating this).

One of the objectives of this thread is to see in what way and how fast opinion on Y2k is and will be changing the coming months. Any change in opinion by current 'Nay' sayers will be registered here.

In this way I hope to have another indicator on feelings and opinions of the investment community regarding Y2k.

Once a major part of this community starts to talk in another (i.e. more realistic) way about Y2k, it will become time to go cash (of course, apart from other negative influences (reasons) on the stock market, such as SEA).

I invite others to add similar remarks and comments on this thread; and especially any comments by SI-members that indicate a changed stance on Y2k and it's effects on stock market and society.

I want to stress that I have nothing personal against people who think Y2k is not a big thing. It is their full right to say so; and I respect their opinion.

Some typical quotes:

'Second, I agree with you 110% on the Y2K problem. It is so overblown. To portend such catastrophic problems that are not their is ridiculous and manipulative, imo.

Reminds me of the mid 70's when we "discovered" the "hole in the ozone "and the end of the world was right around the corner if CFC's were not banned.'

'Anyone want my put on Y2K? Sorry, but its not an alarmist's view, and the sky isn't going to fall. '
