Return to the Women of SI

In my short time here, I have come to notice that the posts from men far outnumber the posts from women. This fact, I feel, is not reflective of the highly intelligent , shrewd and successful women who constitute the "kinder, gentler" side of SI. For whatever reason, we choose not to post our critique of a stock proposed by the thread guru, or submit our technical analysis of the charts, or comment publicly as to the affects a certain news item might have on investor sentiment. We don't post it publicly, but we know it just the same.

As a relatively new investor, I have gained much knowledge by simply reading the various posts on SI. Some of the most informative posts I have read were written by women. It is my belief that women have certain characteristics inherent in our nature that provide us with an edge in the investment world. We are more cautious and analytical, for instance, deconstructing stock tips to our satisfaction prior to pulling the trigger. We are more patient as well, more apt to give our investments sufficient time to mature. Another difference, however laughable - we aren't ashamed to ask for directions! I would like to see us capitalize on these and other traits, and share our various strengths with one another. I envision for this thread, the gathering of intelligent female minds who share the common goal of taking charge of their financial futures and having fun doing so.

Some of you have already arrived, to wit, Jenna, whose Market Gems thread seems to have found a perpetual spot on SI's Hot Subjects list. If you have been successful in the market or are particularly knowledgeable in any given area (technical analysis, reverse mergers, daytrading, etc), I encourage you to take an active role in educating the rest of us. If you are just starting out, come, ask questions and learn. We all have something to offer one another, whether apparent to us or not.

Ladies, it's time to come out of the woodwork and let yourselves be known. Proudly voice your opinions and feel free to strut your stuff. We are the Women of SI. And if nothing else, we do know how to have fun!

Oh, and for the men unable to resist the urge to post here, just please be respectful. The last thing I want is for this thread to become a man vs woman debacle.

Best regards,

-M
