Return to Twentieth Century Industries (Insurance) TW

TW is a stock I have owned since 1988. It is a auto insurance company based in southern California. It is a truly profitable company, and a survivor. It has been profitable 37 or the last 40 years.

It has survived the Northridge earthquake, the San Gabriel Mtn fires, the Rodney King riots, the Berkeley hill fires, the populist propositon 103, the Ventura Mtn mudslides, etc. Through the fat and lean years TW continues to provide low cost auto insurance to the drivers of California.

Recently, TW began offering insurance in Arizona and other western states. Also, American International Group, a large New York insurer, holds 45% of the common stock and has been making takeover noises since January.
