Fingerhut is a direct marketing titan with over 1.8 billion in annual sales and a 1.6 billion market capitalization. They are now publicly stating that they are getting serious about e-commerce. They have the opportunity to do much of what Cendant was supposed to do in terms of leveraging direct marketing experience and a vast base of existing direct-marketing customers for revenue growth on the Internet. They recently acquired PC Flowers and Gifts and strongly implied that more acquisitions are soon to follow. Their president is the former CEO of Prodigy. So will these guys fulfill the online expectations that Cendant had before CUC told a few fibs? Or are they another Zapata poking their nose in where they don't belong? Let's hear it!
