mPhase technology partnered with GTRI (Georgia Tech Research Institute) an applied contract research organization with annual business of about $100 million specializing with customers ranging from the armed forces, gov't and industry.
The result is a unique technology addressing the most confounding of XDSL challenges: "The last mile technology" and the delivery of TV, broadband internet and phone over a single line. mPhase is confident they have found the solution and have exclusive worldwide license for the Traverser(TM) Digital Video and Data Delivery System (DVDDS) Technology.
Today's press release states:
"The first of its kind, allows telecommunication service providers the ability to deliver up to 16 channels of digital TV in MPEG-2 format along with 1Mbps Internet access simultaneously, utilizing a single pair of unshielded telephone wire from a central office to a customer premise without disrupting normal telephone services. ''This technology simultaneously provides consumers with a cost effective solution for high quality digital TV, Broadband Internet, and traditional telephone service using a single telephone line,'' said Ronald A. Durando, president of mPhase Technologies, Inc.
The Technology Preview Units are priced at $1750 per pair and are available for delivery in October of 1998.
The Traverser DVDDS Version 1.0 with the capacity of up to 80 Digital Video channels will be available for delivery in the Spring of 1999.
mPhase is now partnering with telecommunication service providers, enabling the integration of Digital TV (''video LEC''), Broadband Internet Access, and traditional voice services. "
