Return to Filtered Souls Entertainment (FSOL -BB)

Filtered Souls started out as a two-man production team with one major goal… to be a fully functional and internationally effective entity in the business of music. Today, with Hip-Hop and R&B as the focus, Elow Zapata and Jesse Perez (Shysti) are taking San Diego's music scene to new heights. With over fifteen years of industry experience as artists, producers and promoters, this company
(now more than 20 associates) is well on its way to worldwide success.

Three of the five Filtered Souls rising stars have released their music locally. Big Maine, Black Mikey and Mad One have all had regional projects that have made a lot of noise and earned them the slots in the Filtered Souls camp, regarded as one of San Diego's best. These artists, along with Secret Service,- a Puerto Rican duo who performed their way into the family, have sold-out every Hip-Hop venue in San Diego and even sold-out nights at the biggest clubs in Tijuana, Mexico (one of the worlds most popular "party spots'), including Baby Rock and Club XS.

They have captivated audiences at Los Angeles' legendary House of Blues and their performances have landed them write-ups in magazines such as Industry Insider, Straight from the Lip, The Source and Showcase Magazine. Club owners are ecstatic, record stores are in awe and Z-90 (XHTZ), San Diego's premier Rap/R&B radio station, has embraced these artists and this company with open arms.

DJ RAGS, who breaks the hottest records on the West Coast, has pushed this camp's music into his play-list for both his club (The 555, one of this city's finest) and his "number one" rated radio show, which airs during the morning drive-time slot on Z-90.

Filtered Souls founders/producers, known as Elow and Shysti, were finding it very hard to keep the stores and the street teams stocked with product to sell and it became evident that they would have to seek the help of a record company. What started out as a few small projects evolved into a platinum potential family that is also completely self-contained, produced, managed and promoted.

Filtered Souls has what it takes to lock-down the Hip-Hop audience, either in one swoop or one region at a time. They have also set-up a low-power radio station, which will cover the entire city, and will start broadcasting Hip-Hop music for the avid fans in 1999. With the backing of Skyline Records the family has grown incredibly. The last six months, since the signing to Skyline, have propelled this crew to the forefront and added the young Canadian MC, Johnny Rourke, to the roster.

With over 200,000 flyers for different Filtered Souls events being distributed throughout California, New York and Vancouver, the promo team is stronger than ever. The family recorded its first album all together, entitled Family Business, San Diego is ready. Mixed at Paramount Recording by Guy Snider, Lou Michaels and Norwood Barber II and mastered by the almighty "Big Bass" Brian Gardner at Bernie Grundman, this project lifted the camp's sound to new heights.

Over 40,000 posters have gone up all over these cities, advertising the December 31 1998 album release date, and three "Big Budget" videos have been filmed to support the product once it hits the streets. The stage is set. The team has been assembled and the mission is being accomplished. Filtered Souls is definitely the next super camp in Hip-Hop music.
