I believe tariffs on Internet usage could have a significant influence on the Internet. Preliminary government legislation is already in place; some proponents say that tariffs must happen sooner or later.
Others say there is no way "the public" (whoever that is) will allow tariffs.
I'm in no position to argue intelligently either way, but I have done a bit of investigation. The "parallel Internets" are being developed right now.
If anyone is interested in discussing the issue (will it be usage based?), or in theorizing what companies will benefit or get crushed if and when the change occurs, (CSCO, LU will kick serious butt?) start typing.
If nobody is interested, that's fine too.
(BTW, this is not a joke thread. Thanks in advance.)
