Today's article in the WSJ on Vencor being successfully sued by private medical insurance companies was fascinating. The gist is that private insurance companies are resisting paying more than Medicare/Medicaid. I am 99% certain that hospitals overcharge the few remaining private patients to make up for the reduced Medicare/Medicaid/HMO payments. I use a THC hospital. With this source of revenue threatened, for profit hospital companies should have it even rougher. Or maybe this represent a plus for medical insurance companies. |
