NEPHILIM = "the fallen ones" , Earth-born
The Greek Septuagint, a translation of the Torah into Greek about 270 B.C., simply states that there was an un-natural union between some (fallen) angels and human women that resulted in offspring that were superhuman: gigantic, violent, and very sinful.
This was the underlying reason for the drastic judgement of the flood. Noah's genealogy was Unblemished.
Perhaps this is why GOD ordered Moses to completely destroy all humans at times as they moved through the land during the Exodus. Remember, the spies returned with stories of GIANTS in the land.
