Return to Traditional brokers/SEC conspiracy

In my opinion, the traditional brokers have been conspiring for years with the SEC to screw the small investors. Because of on-line trading and discussions sites like SI, the small investors and the not so small investors have become more autonomous and the traditional firms are fast loosing control over them.
Now, of course, we're hearing all sort of negative rumors concerning the danger of on-line investing and of the "almost certain" new regulations which will supposedly protect investors from themselves.
There is no doubt in my mind that on-line software will keep on improving allowing for better service and that the new generation of investors will prefer this approach to the traditional one which has been far from perfect for the last 100 years.
One can only hope that the SEC will act only as a referree and allow a new era in stock investment to flourish without unnecessary hurdles but Wall Street and its influence on the regulators mean that some form of regulation will come to be so the big boys can keep on ruling with iron fists. Buyers beware!
