Smithfield Foods is one of the nation's largest fresh-pork processors. The company's products include fresh pork, ham, sausage, franks, and deli items sold under brand names such as John Morrell, Gwaltney, Lykes, Patrick Cudahy, and Smithfield Premium. The company's flagship brand, Smithfield Lean Generation Pork, is the only nationally distributed fresh-pork brand. A vertically integrated producer, Smithfield also owns several hog farms. The company sells its products to grocery stores, food distributors, and food service operators. Smithfield Foods distributes its pork products throughout the US and in Canada, Japan, and Mexico.
