Time waits for no business, so Time Warner Telecom is hurrying to build out fiber-optic networks in 19 metropolitan markets, which it plans to interconnect into regional clusters. Time Warner Telecom is a competitive local-exchange carrier (CLEC) that provides telecommunications services to large and midsized businesses and long-distance carriers, Internet service providers, wireless companies, and government agencies. It offers dedicated phone lines and access, switched phone services, data and video transmission, and Internet services, including dedicated Internet access. Time Warner Telecom is 62%-owned by Time Warner; its other stakeholders are MediaOne Group (19%) and Advance/Newhouse Partnership (19%).
