Gibson Greetings is third largest greeting card/novelty toy company in the US. GIBG markets Silly Slammers which are small stuffed animals that speak/make noises when thrown against the wall as each one is equipped with a sound card inside. Burger King will be giving away Silly Slammers later in the year as a promotion for their version of the "happy meal." (McDonalds is the largest distributor of toys in the world...so this contract has quite a bit of merit!!!) The New Valley Group (a Florida based investment bank/brokerage unit headed by Bennett LeBow)has recently announce the acquisition of 5.01% of the company so there could be a takeover on the way!!!

The stock is currently trading around $7 (14x FY99 eps estimates and @ just 41% of its $16.75 book value!!!)
