Multiactive has been in the contact management/SFA/CRM business for several years and its products are currently used worldwide by an installed user base estimated to be in excess one million users. The company is operating profitably and just went public in May 1999, with the reverse takeover of a resource-base firm.
Few are familiar with the field of CRM software. According to Forrester Research [Inc.], the market for these systems in 1998 was about $1 billion, growing at a 54 percent compound annual growth rate. This market is expected to be larger than the ERP (e.g SAP, BaaN, PeopleSoft etc.) market in 2000, larger than the sum of manufacturing and HR [human resources]. This burgeoning market is viewed as being so important that Oracle Corp. has bumped up resourcing in this area to 750, up from 25 within the last two years.
The potential for e-commerce is more widely recognized. Multiactive has released a couple of products in this area aimed at helping small and home-based businesses establish a sales presence on the web. On March 15, 1999 , ecBuilder was officially recognized as the "Best Internet Commerce Software" at the Software & Information Industry Association's (SIIA) 1999 Codie Awards. Multiactive beat out major industry players to nab this prestigious award, including Microsoft, Adobe Systems, and Net Perceptions, maker of the e-commerce technology behind giant Internet bookseller Amazon.com.
Additionally, this week, Multiactive released Entice! which the company describes as the only cost-effective solution that fully integrates e-commerce, marketing , sales, and customer relationship management.
