The current issue of Newsweek--July 5th l999--has a headline article about "SAMe: Is it a miracle pill?" S-adenosylmethionine is a molecule that is present naturally in the human body and involved in many of our internal processes. The supplement brought to market in this country by GNC(its stock has moved up strongly recently) and Pharmavite, the makers of Nature Made brand, has been heralded as a new wonder "drug" without FDA approval or interference. It has been praised in its treatment of Depression, Arthritis and Liver Disease. I thought it would be interesting and useful to have a place to discuss reactions to the supplement by those who are experimenting with it. Myron |
