---------- Shop Owner Turns Table On Would-Be Robber Owner Shoots Robbery Suspect And Chases Him Down The Street
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Posted 2:30 p.m. July 31, 1999 -- Enough is enough, or so a shop owner thought. A suspected robber is in critical condition today after being shot by the owner of a North Hollywood doughnut shop that had been robbed four times in the past year.
The suspect entered Jolly Donuts Friday afternoon, pulled out a gun and demanded money, Detective Martin Pinner told the Daily News. This time the owner, who was alone in the store, drew his own pistol and shot the man in the chest. He then chased the suspect down the street and tackled him in front of Coldwater Canyon Elementary School, holding him until the police arrived.
Pinner told the newspaper the shooting was under investigation, but it appears to be a case of self-defense. The shop owner, whose name was not released, probably will not be charged, he told the newspaper. |
