There seems to be a growing trend among the more savvy investors in microcap stocks to band together. This is done to cooperatively identify potential winners, protect themselves from identifiable losers, and use the coordinated buying/selling power of the group to offset market-maker, P&D artists, and shorter games.
"..Team Monkey.." is being formed from posters on the MONKEY thread on RagingBull.com. Joining RagingBull is free, then you make your desire to join Team Monkey on the MONKEY thread and they'll email you instructions.
Another group is Institute25, which may be reached by emailing an "I wish to join" subject & message to institute25@hotmail.com.
There are similar SI-based groups; see "clubs".
Just like investment clubs comprised of local friends, these web-based associations may do alot to offset the manipulation of Pump-&-Dump Stock Newsletters from nefarious sources like the "..SEC busted.." Future Super [Slugs] Stocks, etc.
If you are new to penny-investing, I'd suggest you join some of these groups, then "..hide & watch.." until you learn the ropes. Making "..imaginary buys & sells.." on an Excel spreadsheet for a while will help you find out if your "club" is making good picks. It is also a lot less expensive than learning the hard way, as most of us have.
