Over the last couple years, I have developed an intolerance for certain fumes. These are usually, but not limited to, certain perfumes, colognes, deodorants. My symptoms include burning eyes, scratchy throat and stomach ache--in any combination. I thought for a long time that I was just being neurotic, that my intolerance for the worsening aromas of coworkers was only in my head. Does anyone else Out There suffer, too?

What do you do about it? I'd like to know any personal solutions as well as social ones. My couple of attempts to ask HR to step in have back-fired unpleasantly. Is there anti-fume-bombardment legislation in the works? Ironically, smoke doesn't bother me at all. My fear is I will have to hole up at home, telecommute and wear a mask in public. Help!!
