products. Its Web site's evaluation system matches
products to children's individual needs and learning styles.
Founded in 1994, the firm has also been involved in
software development and children's intelligence tests
under the names Virtual Entertainment and Virtual
Knowledge. Its largest investors -- North Bridge Venture
Partners, Commonwealth Capital Ventures, and Canadian
publisher Torstar -- own a combined 44% of its stock.
Partner National Computer Systems, a standardized test
scorer, recommends items from SmarterKids.com based
on exam results.
