COMPANY OVERVIEW
Quantum Bridge Communications Inc., a privately held company
headquartered in North Andover, Massachusetts, is focused on delivering
next-generation optical access networking equipment designed to eliminate
the bandwidth bottlenecks that exist in the public network's first mile.

Founded in October 1998, Quantum Bridge is pioneering the development of
Optical Access Networking equipment that will enable telecommunications
service providers to cost-effectively deliver high-bandwidth services to
businesses customers.

OPTICAL ACCESS NETWORKING: SERVICES ENABLER FOR THE 21ST
CENTURY
The continued deployment of fiber optic technologies in the network backbone
has both service providers and business customers excited about the prospect
of utilizing the bandwidth-intensive applications that will change the way we do
business. This promise, however, will never be realized without an optical first
mile capable of effectively delivering these high-bandwidth service offerings to
customers over the most congested piece of the public network.

Optical Access Networking is a breakthrough technology which empowers
service providers with the scaleable, high-speed network required for the
cost-effective delivery of new business services such as VPNs, application
outsourcing, e-commerce and web hosting. By delivering an optical first mile
solution directly to the business customer over a low cost, easily managed
passive optical infrastructure, service providers can finally deploy
next-generation business services at price points that make sense for their
customers, as well as for themselves.

FINANCING
In two rounds of funding from the venture capital community, Quantum Bridge
has received more than $22 million. In November 1998, the company received
$6 million in a first round financing from New Enterprise Associates and Lazard
Technology Partners. Most recently, in August 1999 Quantum Bridge secured
an additional $16 million in its second round funding from Atlas Venture and the
original investors.
