Intelliworxx, only 11/2 years old, is sitting on two eye-popping products -- the CarPC, which is about to become an option on luxury cars, and the VoiceTablet, a Pentium II-based computer the size of a laptop that, like the CarPC, works from voice commands.
Here's the story Intelliworxx executives tell:
Intel Corp., maker of the omnipresent Pentium, Pentium II, Pentium III and Celeron computer chips, was approached by the major automotive manufacturer, already a good client, with a basic request.
The car maker wanted to put a PC in its cars, and wanted Intel to help. Intel gradually realized that a more focused effort was in order. Intel called in Kevin Rogers, who had a reputation for turning feasible concepts into workable realities.
Rogers put together Intelliworxx with skilled people he already knew, and a few fresh recruits. The major automotive manufacturer became one of the first two clients of Intelliworxx. |
