iQ Power and Yamar Electronics sign alliance agreement
''The YAMAR technology is ingenious in that it uses existing battery power lines as a means to transfer digital data in cars. For the automotive industry, this translates into savings not only in terms of extra wiring but also in terms of costs, weight, and installation time,'' said Peter Braun, Chief Executive Officer, iQ Power. ''The collaboration with YAMAR and the application of the DC-Bus technology thus represent a major step forward towards implementing completely new applications in cars.'' Data can be exchanged between the generator and the chip-controlled battery developed by iQ. It is also possible to shut-off power consuming devices in a particular sequence and in accordance with the state of charge (SOC) of the battery.

iQ Power is engaged in the development and commercialization of advanced NEXT GENERATION lead-acid battery technology that incorporates internal micro- electronics to monitor and control the environment and operation of the battery as part of an integrated automotive electronic system. This technology, developed by iQ's German subsidiary, iQ Battery Research & Development GmbH, is a self-monitoring SMART battery that is lighter, smaller, more powerful and longer lasting, that recharges up to six times faster and is less susceptible to adverse (severe hot/cold) weather conditions.
