Neoforma.com hopes the prognosis is good for
selling medical supplies on the Internet. Through
deals with suppliers and distributors, the online
middleman lists medical equipment (diagnostic
systems), products (surgical instruments), and
supplies (syringes, gloves) for sale to health
care providers, including physicians, hospitals,
and clinics. The company provides an auction
service for refurbished, surplus, and used
medical equipment. Online buyers can also take
virtual tours of medical facilities. Jeffrey Kleck
and Wayne McVicker co-founded
Neoforma.com in 1996 and together own 16%
of the company. Venrock Associates, Dell
Computer, and Delphi Ventures own a total of
26.5% of Neoforma.com.
