instruments and software to analyze
gene activity (expression) and to isolate
and identify proteins. Its lead product, the
GeneTAC Biochip System, uses biochips
(DNA fragments attached to glass) to
compare gene expression in diseased
and normal cells. Genomic Solutions also
makes the Investigator Proteomic
System, which separates and identifies
proteins, and software to integrate and
store data collected by its products.
Genomic Solutions's customers include
Merck and Biogen. Chase Capital
Partners owns about 20% of the firm, but
scientific instruments maker PerkinElmer
retains the right to purchase the
company outright.
