United Pan-European Communications (UPCOY) plans to float it's Chello Broadband (CHLO) unit in the near future. Chello has been dubbed by some as the "@home of Europe".
CHLO is a broadband internet company, active in Europe, Latin America and Australia.
CHLO's IPO has been delayed due to rumored talks with UK cable giant Telewest (TWSTY). Another rumor circulating was that @home (ATHM) is looking to form some type of partnership to grab a foothold in Europe.
Microsoft and Liberty Media both have stakes in CHLO. Goldman Sachs is the lead underwriter.
Should be interesting to see if CHLO goes the way of it's American counterpart, @home, whose share price has lumbered under the weight of talks of open cable access and dissention amongst it's sleu of investors. |
