Whenever the economy appears to be heading into a recession, investment strategists typically recommend that investors switch to "defensive" stocks, companies that are likely to be hurt less than average, or will be unaffected by, an economic decline.
I'd like this forum to cover companies that will actually benefit from a bad economy, outfits whose profits are likely to be better in hard times than in good. They are out there, and I know of a couple. Given the recent economic indicators, I think the time is right to consider them. My first message will discuss one of them, and I look forward to ideas from others, and dissenting viewpoints on any ideas presented. |
