Amateur's Short and Long Portfolios for 2001

Background:
Participants on The Amateur Traders Corner thread were invited to nominate their best picks (1 long 1 short) with high potential for beating the major indices. This new thread is intended to keep track and update the portfolios, etc...

Portfolio Rules:
(a) Each Participant is entitled to select one stock for the long port and one stock for the short port.
(b) Deadline for initial entry is December 31, 2000.
(c) Each stock is assigned with a $10k investment using the closing prices on December 31, 2000.
(d) Limit up to 4 trades in 2001; recognizing that stocks can move violently on news or for no reason at all, you may make your trade(s) at any time. After the initial selections, all trades thereafter shall be assigned the closing day price on the same day that the trade is made. The only limitation is that your "trade" must be reported on this thread before 4:00 p.m. (in order to discourage trading on the basis of news released after the bell).

PLEASE USE THIS THREAD FOR:

* Posting trade information for the two Amateur Portfolios
* Thoughts, comments or suggestions with maintaining the Portfolios

Thank you for posting everything else on;
