Databases and Programming Tools are the essential building blocks for all software. There are many companies that offer competing products and tools, including such broad companies as IBM, Sun, and Microsoft. In addition many smaller specialized companies offer products in a varity of market segments.
Complex information systems could not exist without the products these companies offer, yet there is little interest in or awareness of them on Wall Street. Therefore I felt the need for this forum.
I have created this thread for the discussion of the DBMS, programming, application server, and web development markets as well as the companies that provide these products. By pooling the information and expertise in these fields which are currently spread over many other threads it is my belief that we can collectively synthesize new knowledge.
Note: This thread is NOT for stock price updates, short term technical analysis, or off topic discussions. Posters who persist in these activities will be prevented from posting on the thread in the future.
I have created a public portfolio of the stocks so that we have a basis for discussion. See below.
The following charts will help us judge the relative performance of stocks in this area. Note: SI allows only seven stocks per chart.
