Some examples of independent energy companies to discuss are Anadarko Petroleum (APC), Devon Energy (DVN), Apache Corporation (APA), Ocean Energy (OEI), Triton Energy (OIL), Kerr-McGee Corporation (KMG), Cross Timbers Oil Company (XTO), and Newfield Exploration Company (NFX).
