DJ news reported today (5/29/96):

SAN FRANCISCO -- Four members of Sun Microsystems Inc.'s
(SUNW) original Java development team formed Marimba Inc.,
a new company to provide next-generation technologies for
deploying network-aware Java applications.

In a press release, Mariba said its founders are Kim Polese,
Arthur van Hoff, Jonathan Payne and Sami Shaio.

Sun Microsystems said it is ''excited'' about the role Marimba
will play to advance Java as an open, platform-independent
programming language for the Internet and beyond.

Marimba's products are being alpha tested. The company plans
to ship its initial products in the third quarter.

SUNW stock plunged 3 1/4 to close at 60 3/4 on this news.
