Return to The Thread II

Here's the link to the original "The Thread" for reference purposes. Unfortunately, the lack of civility by one individual prompted the change.

Damn, almost made it to 50,000 posts without having to move to a moderated format.

Subject 34638

Disciplined short term trading - that will be my focus on this thread. Adherence to the
dictates of the charts with an eye on fundamentals, earnings and news, should be
our goal.

This is primarily a technical site, because the willingness and discipline to exit on
breaks of trendlines and support, precludes the rigid reliance on fundamentals.
However, when the opportunity to play a fundamentally sound stock, on a technical
basis, presents itself...it becomes a more attractive alternative to playing a less
sound stock.

Towards that end, I would hope that this thread does not strictly limit itself to tech
plays. There's a world of other stocks out there as well.

Trendlines, defined support and resistance, volume, candles...will tell us when to exit
a trade.

Exits are the key to success. You needn't enter at the bottom for a successful trade
but you have to exit at an opportune time, be it to take profits or prevent further loss.

Merely hoping that a stock comes back (without basis) is a losing proposition.

My participation on this thread will be to try and bring stocks to attention that have
shown, through an important combination of indicators, the apparent potential for
near term upside.

It's not important that this thread become popular or hot. I'd rather it did not. It is
important that it remain respectful and cognizant of differing opinions, free from
spam and hype, with one simple goal, to use information and technical indicators to
help each other make money. The fruits of that labor can in turn be used to help
family and friends and those in need.

A few, thoughtful posters giving reasons for their short term stock opinions, should
be the goal of this thread and it's participants.

If it works, we should all profit handsomely, even in this very difficult market. If it
doesn't work, we will have tried.

One more point I'd like to make. A lot of people are averse to shorting. That's a
mistake, when a stock has obviously paused, there's no shame in going short on it,
nor is there anything sinister in recognizing when a stock has moved too far too fast,

To survive this market we should use all tools at our disposal, no need to shun things
that work,

Cooperation and respect. Let's try it.
