Return to 4G - Wireless Beyond Third Generation

- IMT-Advanced 'True' 4G Mobile Wireless Technology -

When this board was initiated in August 2001, 4G Wireless -- the 4th Generation mobile wireless system was just a vision, and in fact, CDMA based ITU IMT-2000 3G systems were just starting to roll out.

Today the 4G vision has taken material shape. In October 2010, while pre-4G LTE and Wi-Max were beginning to be implemented ITU-R WP8F identified two OFDMA-based air interfaces for inclusion in IMT-Advanced 'True' 4G ...

• 3GPP's LTE-Advanced Release 10 & Beyond

• IEEE's WirelessMAN-Advanced (aka WiMAX 2) 802.16m

This board was originally created for discussion of the development and implementation of pre-4G LTE and WiMax and the implementation of IMT-Advanced 4G technologies and whatever new investment or Network Operator selection opportunities they might create. Today 4G LTE Advanced 'True' 4G with VoLTE is well implemented globally. Posting and discussion on the board is open to all SI members.
