| British Energy PLC is an international energy business, focusing on nuclear generated electric power. The Company operates eight nuclear power stations in the United Kingdom with a combined capacity of 9,600 megawatts (MW). Seven stations have twinned advanced gas cooled reactors; the other station has one pressurized water reactor. British Energy also owns a 2000-MW flexible coal fired plant, purchased in March 2000.
