MOTIVE:
The most characteristic aspect of the Bush administration is skyrocketing energy prices. His first major executive decision was to ignore the energy crisis in California. At the same time, Bush started his campaign to open the Alaska National Wildlife Reserve to exploration. At the time of the "crisis" he contended America needed more energy, and the known reserves under environmentally protected areas were our best source. By late Summer 2001 the issue had been shot down, mainly by Bush's most vocal opponent Senator Daschle. Shortly after 9/11, Bush again pushed for opening ANWR on the assumption America needed to be less dependent on foreign oil, again without success. As evidenced by the first Gulf War, the war effort severely impacted Iraq's production ability. This is the only certain outcome of the current Iraq situation. ANWR holds an estimated half trillion dollars in oil reserves and it's a safe bet a major disruption of Middle Eastern supplies will result in a public outcry to open the area to exploration. 9/11 gave Bush dictator like powers to pursue war, hold prisoners (witnesses) out of contact with the outside world, and to classify and inhibit any investigations or information related to 9/11, anthrax and energy trading information.
So far Bush is the only clear beneficiary of the 9/11 tragedy, hence motive. Combined with the fact the two jets aimed at civilian targets were overwhelmingly destructive, while those aimed at Government buildings were not, and the fact the follow up anthrax attacks were originated within the US, from US sources, and were aimed at primary political rivals and members of the press most likely to create public opinion in favor of war, makes George Bush the prime suspect. |
