Only stuff on diversion of war effort from Afghanistan to Iraq, no "who is to blame for 9/11" stuff, please
As Commander-In-Chief it was the duty of George W. Bush to press the war against the perpetrators of the 9/11 acts of infamy and all who support or are affiliated with them.
George W. Bush did, in fact, proceed with that war in an effective and timely manner. He marshalled our allies destroyed a good part of Al Qaeda and the Taliban. However, well before he had completed his mission, he abandoned the effort and diverted resources in order to mount a time-consuming, expensive and deadly unnecessary war against Iraq.
The purpose of this thread is to accumulate evidence that: (1) the Bush administration, despite full knowledge that Al Qaeda was behind 9/11, immediately determined that it would attack Iraq; and (2) important resources in the war against islamic terrorism were diverted from the hunt for Osama Bin Laden to Georgie's Most Excellent Iraq Adventure.
This will be accomplished through books, interviews, and testimony of former administration officials, as well as journalists such as Bob Woodward, who has a book coming out next month.
In addition I will eventually be researching historical cases of general officers being removed from command, whether due to refusing to engage the enemy or other causes.
