Return to Sector Analysis (mostly)

I wanted to start a forum mostly for IT/LT sector analysis primarily using fundamental analysis. Technical analysis will be used to generate initial ideas, but will leave that to each individual. I learn more from different FA views. Which sectors represent the best long and short plays based upon risk/reward analysis - and why. Any sector is fair game.

A few guidelines:

1) Individual stocks can be mentioned, however I'd like to focus more on sectors.
2) I'm just looking for a few posts a week from each individual. Maybe at the end of each week putting together your best ideas from various threads on the sector your follow most.
3) This thread is so diverse that I think it's best to keep posts limited to bigger trend changes vs day to day changes within a sector.
4) Look for highly cyclical sectors where technology does not play a big part. The reasoning here is that these sectors once they hit multi-year lows eventually come back. You can't say that about many techs since "new" technology is always coming out.
5) Looking for sectors/stocks that could turn into multi-year turn around stories. This does not eliminate shorting, but it obviously makes it more difficult to justify.

Just a few ideas: Semis, biotechs, wireless, telecom, internets, software, energy (oil service, E&P, integrateds), gold and precious metals, big pharma (drugs), banking, financials, insurance, retail, homebuilders, healthcare, utilities.
