Recent data that I saw indicates that issues with one's vascular system is the major cause for hospital confinements. Sadly, one can be hospitalized for one condition but then suffer from medical issues that arise from their original condition and these are often related to issues such as blood clots forming, etc. A stock that I've owed several years ago is Vascular Solutions(VASC). To make a long story short...limited products and other issues led to them nearly going out of business. IMO things have really turned around for this company and a brighter future is on the near horizon.
They now have a host of products...Pronto extraction catheter for removing soft thrombus. Vari-Lase for treating varicose veins. Duett sealing device used to seal puncture sites following catheterization. But in my opinion the product they are on the verge of launching is the catalyst that will move this stock higher. The product is a 3x3 D-Stat hemostatic bandage that can be used in most trauma cases(currently the product is being used in Iraq by the military). For more details I would suggest a visit to their website for detailed information on this product that has been given a stamp of approval by the FDA.
Near term will be the announcement of their alliance partner to market this product. (VASC) doesn't have the sales force to handle the potential of this product as it will be used by EMS technicans, hospitals for all suffering bleeding episodes from accidents. The CEO has confirmed in last CC that they will make this announcement by the end of this Q(1Q-2005) or early in (2Q-2005). Yesterday in a horrible market the volume in this stock doubled the daily average and moved up nearly .75. Today in a horrible market the volume tripled the daily average and moved up another .10 cents. Even without this major product (VASC) is quickly moving to being a profitable company. Merely look at the incremental Q revenue results. Current analyst projections have them moving into a profit mode with .27 cents projected for 2005. For 2006 they are projecting growth to .72 cents.
I own shares in this company...thankfully at a lower level than it is currently traded...I like long-term holdings for tax purposes. |
