Return to The Home Run

What's going to be the Home Run Play

Tell us your "I'm going to retire on this play" sector, or stock or gurl whose dad has a lot of money.

Where are we going to invest that the score is going to be so terrific that the end result is that the home on the beach is going to be paid for, no question.

If you are wrong the worst that can happen is that they repossess the Bentley and we all end up living in a cardboard box near the East River.

I have my favorite. What's yours?

Revision 1

After putting this together, I think I should call it the Gold Dust Portfolio.

I’d put this in a post, but it’s easier to find here and won’t be changed much (I hope).

The following would be my pick. The parameters are that hypothetically all are purchased at the Open price on Tuesday January 17 2006.

Stops on the equities will be determined in a post. Numbers of shares was determined in order to make all purchases roughly equal with respect to investment. As of Friday’s Close, each purchase should be between 27K and 30K.

Glamis Gold, GLG, 1000 Shares
Newmont Mining, NEM, 500 Shares
Petroquest, PQ, 3000 Shares
Tan Range, TRE, 4000 Shares
Barrick, ABX, 1000 Shares

Barrick and Newmont because they are the behemoths in Gold Stocks. Glamis and Tan Range because they are Gold Royalty companies and apparently well managed. Petroquest to load in an Energy play.

Approximate Investment, less than $150K as of Friday’s Close. There won’t be much trading, so Commissions won’t be included. Total Costs will be rounded up to the next $100 on each issue so commission should not matter anyway.

On the Futures side, Probably will add in contracts on GO (Gold), SI (Silver), CD (Canadian Dollar) and a Short on DX (US Dollar). Stops will definitely be included on those, number of contracts to be determined in a post before Tuesday. Same deal with these, whatever the Open on Tuesday is.

Also may add in some stock in the Financial Sector, possibly Tech sector. That would add some diversity. On the other hand, this is supposed to be the Home Run, so I may just leave it as a Risk Portfolio without regard to playing it safe. Presuming that it’s $150K shot to Blazes plus the risk on the Futures contracts.

This is my pick for the House on the beach ----OR----trading in the Bentley for a two-wheeler.
