Music (Recorded and Live) Appreciation ...

The focus of this board is musicians of the modern era, their lives, or their recorded music -- all genres. The board is open to all who listen or collect.

The most active current SI board on this general subject is MUSIC JUKEBOX, hosted by goldworldnet and anchored today by Tom Clarke and several others.

A quick quote here from the individual who put modern jazz, progressive jazz, cool jazz, on the map:

"It wouldn't seem like summer without Newport" - Jazz Legend, Dave Brubeck -

For 50 consecutive years Dave appeared at the Newport (RI) Jazz Festival. It's where I 1st saw him perform in the summer of 1958. I saw him there for the 3rd time in 1971. He last performed at Newport in 2010 at age 89. Dave's death yesterday in Norwalk CT, a day before his 92nd birthday was the inspiration for starting this board.

- Eric L. -

2016 Edit: I started this board several years ago immediatly after Dave Brubeck's death without publicizing it to reminisce and converse about one of my favorite subjects, then got sidetracked and neglected it. This year I plan to get back at it, mostly focusing on R&B, R&R, and Jazz although my tastes in music are considerably more eclectic than that.
