Permafrost is thawing, releasing methanes and other greenhouse gases. Permafrost contains twice the amount of Carbon that is already in the atmosphere. If permafrost thaw lets out half the greenhouse gas it keeps below now (or it has kept for so long), then the Earth atmosphere will be doubling its greenhouse gas content and the Earth will quite possibly become Venus2.
