Personally I'd my money in mp3.com if I could. Open standards like html and mp3 force the big guys to be nimble (Washington Post, Microsoft) and open significant opportunities for new players (Salon, Yahoo).

I think new artists will drive the transition to the mp3 format but the current big labels have an advantage in their vast archives.
